Feeding exclusive breastfeeding for newborns up to six months old is one of the programmes promoted by the government. This programme is held in order to prevent and reduce stunting rates in Indonesia according to the ideal standards recommended by WHO. Breastfeeding is indeed one of the biological experiences of women that cannot be replaced directly by men. However, technically, not all women are able to breastfeed directly. The purpose of this paper will discuss how Islam, especially the Qur'an, discusses the concept of complementarity in the breastfeeding process. in the breastfeeding process. In Surah Al-Baqarah verse 233, it is explained that the issue of breastfeeding is not only the responsibility of women or mothers, but the responsibility of both parents. The qualitative research method is library research. Primary sources are Tafsir and verses of the Qur'an. The results of the study will review in depth how Islam, in this case the Qur'an Surah Al-Baqarah verse 233 clearly describes the principle of breastfeeding. The description of the above interpretation if not interpreted in a mubadalah manner, it will lead to the mother's duty to breastfeed and the father's duty to provide for the needs of the mother and her child with nafkah. So that this interpretation is less relevant for working women who daily earn a living to fulfil their needs. Earn a living to meet the economic needs of the family. Islam has a high concern for the growth and development of children.
