Esensi Kehidupan Perspektif Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr

Abstract

A deep understanding of religious values and the meaning of life is an important aspect that can direct human behavior according to the principles of Islamic law. In this context, the meaning of life in the perspective of the Qur'an is the main guide that needs to be explored to answer the challenges of Muslims who are still often trapped in worldly orientation. This study aims to analyze the meaning of life based on the interpretation of Qur'anic verses as explained in Tafsir Ibn Kathīr. The approach used is qualitative through library research and thematic analysis  of related verses. This research shows that the life of the world is a temporary test given by Allah SWT to measure the level of human obedience. A correct understanding of the meaning of life leads a person to carry out Allah's commands and stay away from His prohibitions, thus creating a balance between the life of the world and the hereafter. A meaningful life does not only focus on material enjoyment, but also on sincere devotion to Allah as the main goal. This analysis makes a new contribution by integrating classical tafsir such as Tafsir Ibn Kathīr into a modern context, making it relevant to the challenges of today's life. This research emphasizes the importance of Qur'anic tafsir as the main source of reference in understanding the values of life, as well as providing new directions in the development of thematic studies of Islamic tafsir that are more contextual and applicable.
