Pola Hidup Sehat dalam QS. al-Aʿrāf Ayat 31: Analisis Prinsip Verifikasi Alfred Jules Ayer

This article examines the application of logical positivism, specifically Alfred Jules Ayer’s verification principle, to QS. al-Aʿrāf [7]: 31 in constructing the concept of a healthy lifestyle. Employing a qualitative method with a library research approach, the study is grounded in the philosophy of language, which views linguistic expressions, sentences, symbols, and signs, as bearers of meaning that can be theoretically disclosed through interpretation. As a prominent figure of logical positivism, Ayer formulated the verification principle to assess the meaningfulness and truth of propositions through empirical validation. In this study, the verification principle is not directed at testing the truth of Qur’anic revelation per se, but at analyzing the extent to which the practical implementation of the verse can be empirically correlated with findings in health sciences. According to Ayer, a statement is meaningful insofar as it is verifiable through experience. The findings indicate that many contemporary diseases are closely associated with dietary habits, particularly excessive food consumption. This observation is in line with QS. al-Aʿrāf [7]: 31, which cautions against excess in eating and drinking. Medical research further supports this principle, demonstrating that overeating significantly increases the risk of serious diseases later in life. Accordingly, this study concludes that QS. al-Aʿrāf [7]: 31 is strongly verifiable, as its normative guidance exhibits a clear empirical correspondence with established health expertise.
