Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interpersonal communication skills of students caused by teacher-centered learning. This study aims to determine the effect of the Numbered Heads Together (NHT) learning method on students' interpersonal communication skills in Islamic Religious Education subjects. The research method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design approach, with a research sample of 36 students, divided into an experimental class using the NHT method and a control class using conventional learning methods. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire, while data analysis used an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average post-test score of the experimental class was 71.83, higher than the control class of 67.72. The results of the hypothesis test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.00 which is smaller than 0.05, so there is a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, these results indicate that the application of the NHT method has a significant effect on improving students' interpersonal communication skills. The NHT method has an influence in increasing student activity, interaction, and cooperation.
