Students' mathematical problem solving abilities are still lacking when working on questions that require problem solving. In solving story problems, students are not able to understand the meaning of the story problems given so they experience difficulty in solving them. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities in solving class V story problems at SD Negeri 4 Welahan. This research is a type of qualitative research conducted at SD Negeri 4 Welahan. The data collection techniques that researchers used in this research were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis used by researchers is the Robert K. Yin case study data analysis technique. Data analysis techniques include pattern matching, data explanation, and time series analysis. The research results showed that students in the high category were able to solve all story problems correctly and were able to fulfill four indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. Students in the medium category tend to fulfill 3 of the 4 indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. Likewise, when solving story problems, there are several questions whose solutions are not quite correct. Students in the low category are only able to fulfill 1 indicator or do not even fulfill all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. In solving story problems, almost all the questions done by students in the low category were solved incorrectly.
